Bandy partnered with veteran songwriter Dee Moeller and a cast of all-star musicians at the historic Cinderella Sound in East Nashville to record the five-song project.
February 22, 2020 – Nashville, Tennessee – Olivia Bandy, a current Sophomore at Belmont University, has partnered with the historic Cinderella Sound in East Nashville to record her debut EP, Here to Home. Focused on a central theme, matters of the heart and the universal search for home, Bandy’s lyrics are wise far beyond her nineteen years. Heavily influenced by the story songs of old, Bandy possesses a disarming honesty and uses it to her advantage in her writing. Bandy hasn’t just charmed her classmates and professors with her lyrics, but legendary guitarist and producer Wayne Moss (Roy Orbison, Dolly Parton, Porter Wagoner, Chet Atkins, Felton Jarvis), songwriter Dee Moeller (Wanda Jackson, Waylon Jennings) and world class musicians Catherine Marx (Reba McEntire) and Jim Kimball (Brooks & Dunn), who all signed on to the project as quickly as they finished listening to the rough cuts of her songs, recorded in her dormitory at Belmont.
With a startlingly clear narrative accompanied by innate musicality, Bandy does not box herself into the current landscape of Pop country. Instead, she fits into the rich weave of songs that knit Country and Americana together. Bandy’s project could easily belong among the stylings of Lori McKenna, Carole King, Brandi Carlile, and the ever spirited Highwomen. There is at once a feeling of great hope and devastating simplicity that accompanies each of her five tracks, leaving listeners longing for more of the story from Bandy’s deep, reflective point of view.
Here to Home will be released on Friday, March 27, 2020.
