Rapid Fire Round with Raquel Aurilia

Raquel Aurilia’s music is uniquely transparent. The Arizona based singer- songwriter is not afraid to be vulnerable and share her emotions. Her unique career also couples with an extensive touring history with 80’s music icon John Waite. Aurilia’s music has been heard on MTV’s hit shows “The Hills” & her single “Feels Like” from her debut record cracked the ultra- competitive Top 30 AC & Billboard Hot AC charts at #28. The accolades continue as her song “He Said, She Said” from her 2015 offering Long Way Home was nominated for a 2017 Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Singer Songwriter. Her new single “Pretty Roses” is making impact with a debut live performance on Today In Nashville on WSMV-TV. Raquel has worked with music icons including Grammy-winner Tony Papa (Willie Nelson, John Denver) Gardner Cole (Madonna, Jody Watley) & Grammy nominee Billy Smiley (WhiteHeart).

After releasing her newest single, “2 Seconds”, last week, Aurilia has proven once again that she can find that perfect sweet spot between strength and vulnerability to arrive at a lyrical journey that is both heartfelt and relevant to modern audiences of all ages. Aurilia chatted with Lula 1892 to answer our Rapid Fire Round in celebration of her new single, “2 Seconds”! To keep up with Raquel Aurilia, catch her on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook!

If you were a musical instrument, which one would you be?

If I were a musical instrument I think I would be a guitar because I love the sound of it, it’s

easy to travel with, my strings could be replaced if they broke, & I could be tuned if I needed

it so I would stay in good shape!

If you could choose one person, alive or not, to play a concert with, who would it be and why?

I would choose to do a concert with Blake Shelton. I think it would be a blast and I love his energy! He has very

loyal fans too and seems like he really connects with hisaudience which is what it’s all about!

When was the first time you felt like you made it in the industry?

When my single, “Feels Like” reached #28 on the Hot AC & Billboard Charts (next to some big

named artists) I felt like this was the when I was “on my way” in the industry! It was exciting

to see the charts with my name on there!

When and where do you do your best writing?

I feel like I do my best writing when I go to this place in AZ where I go to meditate

sometimes. It’s very peaceful there and I am able to tap into my thoughts and ideas in this

peaceful setting.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given about working in the music industry?

I think the best advice I have been given so far is to write as much as I can! The more songs,

the better! I think this is great advice because it keeps you on your toes being creative and

you never know what song you may write one day that can turn out to be “the one” that

really puts you on the map so to speak!

What’s the one song (from any artist) you wish you had written or sung first?

I wish I would have written and Sung “DREAMS” by Stevie Nicks first. I’ve always loved it and

finally covered it only last album! It’s timeless!

Who’s on the guest list for your ideal dinner party?

My ideal party would be with about 10 people and would be pretty diverse but very

entertaining! I would have Elton John, George Clooney, Snoop Dog, Kevin Hart, Bradley

Cooper, John Waite, Jennifer Lopez, Blake Shelton, Sia and The Rock (Dwayne Johnson)!

What is the most memorable thing a fan has done for you?

The most memorable thing a fan has done for me is start a “fan page’ for me on his own to

generate awareness for my music. His name is Miguel Sala from Spain and we have never met

in person yet, but he has been such a big supporter of my music and is so sweet!
